While CACHG highly values community, small class sizes, and reasonable fees, we also have core values that we ask every participating family to agree with… We do not require families to conform to any homeschooling philosophy or curriculum. Although we are a faith-based community we do not require church membership or specific denominational allegiance/alliance of any kind. Jesus welcomed all and so do we. Our homeschool community holds to 6 Core Values – Jesus, The Word, The Local Church, Outreach, Growing in Faith, Support & Community. Capital Area Christian Homeschool Group (CACHG) CORE VALUES:
When you boil it down what is our ministry group really about? What are the Core Values that this ministry is built on? We have 6 Core Values:
Jesus – We believe Jesus is the Son of God. Fully God, He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. He gave His life on the cross to be a substitute for our punishment and provides salvation to all who believe. He arose bodily from the dead. He is the only way to Heaven. (Acts 4:12; John 14:6; Acts 10:42-43)
The Word – We believe the Bible is God-breathed, without error, and is the authority by which believers are to live. (1 Peter 1:24-25; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The Local Church – God’s program for today is the local church. We want to support and encourage the churches by providing resources and training of kids and families who have chosen to homeschool in our “Capital Area.” (Ephesians 3:10-12; Matthew 16:18)
Outreach – It should be the norm for each believer to reach non-believers for Christ. God has called Christians to spread His good news to all the world! We chose to use the homeschool group as a place to plant seeds of faith and healing by being real in our Christian walk and committing to be the light with all who join us. Never being manipulative, but always open with our love for Christ and His gift of salvation for all who will believe. (Philemon 1:6; Luke 10:1-12; Matthew 28: 19
Growing in Faith – Each believer should have a lifelong commitment to grow spiritually, to mature in Bible knowledge and application, and to invest in training others. This growth won’t stop until we reach heaven and we are all on a journey. Walking with other believers and building community support is an important way to build our faith and pass it on to our kids. (Hebrews 10:23-24; Colossians 1:10-12)
Support & Community – We believe our group is called specifically to be an interdenominational group that provides support and a community for those families who have taken up the ministry of homeschooling their children. This means we are a place of safe, loving, Christ-centered teaching and encouragement. This also means that our group can have caring conversations, lively interactions, and deep counsel on many things that affect our life and spiritual walk with God. We do not cling to a denominational “Statement of Faith,” but build our community on the values listed above – none being more important than the person of Jesus Christ and his life, death, and resurrection to bring us into right relationship with the Father (John 3:16-18; & 14:6-7). No family is turned away based on church affiliation or lack of faith, but are given our Core Values and understand that our teachers and CACHG coordination team will not adjust or compromise these values at any time. All are welcome to come, learn, and be encouraged in our Christ-centered community. (Matthew 19:14; Mark 10:13-16)
